   If the axiom is true, “a picture is worth a thousand words”, then a video is worth ten-thousand. This is one of the neatest most concise explanations of the Millikan experiment I’ve ever seen. It demonstrates his simple yet ingenious method, and allows us to understand how experiments and math lead to new discoveries.

   5 stars!

   forgot one important aspect, there was a light source inside the apparatus that allowed Millikan to view the droplets.

   In a thinked experiment, imagine a drop with certain charge raising in the electric field, then if we add more charge, it raise more rapidly, but the change in velocity isn’t continous.

   But i think in reality that they obtained a lot of values of charge of different droplets and they realized that those values where approximately multiples of the lowest value… 1.6E-19.

   i have a question, what would change about the oil drops charge if charge wasn’t quantized?
